Early last summer, Zzyand her friends Ophelia Darkly and Shilo von Porcelainepaid me a visit from Chicago to do a few shoots for Zivity.comand a magazine spread for Tenebrous Magazine.I was between roommates at the time, so one of the bedrooms--the one with all the beautiful natural light, natch--was empty and made for a perfect shooting space. The three friends were a fun, giggly bunch, excited to...

[Tuesday] Fiction: JUNKFOOD NOIR, Chapter 3

“In Hollywood, Everyone Can Hear You Scream”The city spread out beneath him like a sea of Christmas lights. Hollywood. Babylonia.Gamble couldn’t believe almost a year had passed since he’d stepped off that shitty Greyhound bus from that shitty little nowhere town and checked himself into that shitty hotel on Hollywood Blvd. His arrival didn’t improve his life but holy fuck, it wasHollywo...

[Monday] Photo Set: "Deer Princess"

When I first met Kelly Eden, I had no idea she was internet-famous. Like, REALLY internet-famous. Having pink hair and some mad crafting skillz will do that, I'spose. When I met Kelly, it was on the set of a band photo shoot. The singer had brought her along to do his makeup. I remembered seeing her photos online and mentioned to her that I'd love to shoot her sometime. We met a few months l...

[Weekend Bonus] "Scene from an unfilmed movie"

Photography is magic. Smoke and mirrors. With a wave of the wand you can become whatever you want. You can become whateverIwant.Lover. Fighter. Virgin. Whore.Photography is black magic. Voodoo and sacrifice. It's early January and I find myself out in the desert. Out in Vegas. The aftermath of a weekend fueled by sex, drugs and rock n' roll.I'm sitting on the couch watching the girls pla...

[Friday] Behind the Scenes: The Making of Berlin's "Animal" Music Video

It's the summer of 2013 and I'm knee-deep in pre-production on my then upcoming feature film Strange Bloodwhen I get the call from longtime acquaintance and legendary music video directorDean Karr. He tells me he's sending a job my way that he can't do for a little band I might have heard of.Berlin. Yeah, THAT Berlin. "Take My Breath Away" Berlin. "Metro" Berlin.Um....

[Thursday] News Updates: A Day with Nickie Jean, HEX and Book Discount Updates

Here we are, already at week 2 on this whole Patreon thing. Pretty exciting!Life continues to move at an accelerated pace. I've given myself a "shoot at least once a week" rule recently, but so far, I've been averaging at least 2 shoots a week, which is usually unheard of for me. I chalk it up to a re-found love of shooting as well as having this new Patreon account. It truly is in...

[Wednesday] From the Archives: Mika Lovely

Mika found me via ModelMayhem.com in late 2012 to let me know that she would be coming from Miami to Los Angeles and very much wanted to shoot. Most of 2012 had been spent dealing with a family tragedy, being forced to move by a crazy roommate and some serious time devoted to the scriptwriting of my first feature film. Needless to say, I hadn't been shooting much at all.Mika changed that. I ver...

[BONUS] Jessica, 3AM

We've been up all night.Drinking. Smoking. She's naked and singing and dancing around the room, spinning and hollering and falling down; I'm sitting in the corner, watching her with predatory eyes.Drunk. Stoned. We intended to do a shoot hours earlier; the kind where I do fucked up things to her fucked up body and record the fucked up results on film. The kind that ends in blood and bru...

[Tuesday] Fiction: JUNKFOOD NOIR, Chapter 2

“And all that came before…”“Hit me again.”Gamble looked down at the mess of a woman laying beneath him. Big beautiful blue eyes slowly drowning in a pool of swelling pink flesh. Pouty lips smeared with blood and cheap lipstick.“Hit me again you fucking pussy,” she spat at him.He cocked his arm back and let his open hand fly. Stinging flesh. A whimpergasp then a purr.Priscilla flas...

[Friday] Behind the Scenes: Motionless in White, "Reincarnate"

In early 2013, I was approached by one of my clients, Fearless Records, to shoot promotional photos for their band Motionless in White. Lead singer Chris Motionlesswas a huge fan of my work and this was an opportunity to finally work on something together. Chris and the band absolutely loved their images, citing them as some of the best the band had ever taken.Fast forward a year. MIW was getting ...

[Wednesday] From the Archives: "Midnight in the Room of a Thousand Decisions"

I met Katie West online in the late 90s. She was a college student in Canada with a penchant for nude self-portraits, I was an aspiring comic book writer. We both had a love of author Warren Ellis, and met through his message board.Nearly a decade later, we finally met in person. I photographed her naked on top of my loft's rooftop overlooking downtown Los Angeles, she took nude self-portraits...

[Tuesday] Fiction: JUNKFOOD NOIR, Chapter 1

“The End is the Beginning is the End”Gamble sat on the edge of the bed, cock in one hand and a wilted picture of a dead starlet in the other. He did his best to avoid staring directly into those horrible black eyes of hers and instead traced the wrinkled fold of her paper breasts with his thumb.Soft white porcelain skin. Whore’s skin.He half smiled at no one in particular and let his hand...

[Monday] Photo Set: "Black Eyes and Berry-Stained Lips"

I got a text message late Thursday night."Mika got a black eye! She had a seizure and somehow gave herself a black eye. You need to shoot her ASAP!"That she was having seizures was terrible to hear, but my former partner-in-crime was right--this was a rare opportunity.I texted Mika immediately. She responded within moments. "Of course!"The next day I sent an Uber to pick her up. W...
