Another health update

The recovery is coming along very nicely. I attended PAX Australia last weekend, and while I did spend most of it resting in my hotel room, it was frequently packed with authors and other friends, new and old. Lots of chatting and playing board games, and discovering which authors really rely on spell-checkers. It was a great weekend.
Sunday was my biggest day of activities since getting sick, by a wide margin, and a real test of how recuperated I am. Even just a few weeks ago, I wouldn't have imagined I could be out and about for so long without collapsing in a sickly heap.
I spend much of the day playing board games, with Assistaloon and I being taught a new game by Stella and Tarrant of the Meeple University YouTube channel. We lost very badly, but had lots of fun, and made some great new friends along the way. That afternoon was the litRPG panel, which was terrific fun, and then I had dinner with some wonderful folk from {REDACTED} about {REDACTED}, which everyone should be super excited about.
By the time I got home, I had learned just how far my recovery has come along, but also how far it has to go. I was extremely wobbly this week, in the wake of my trip away, but it was absolutely worth it. I have now bounced back and I'm feeling the strongest I have since first getting sick.
I don't want to make any promises, as my health comes first, but I've dusted off the old writing laptop and spent all day making the damn thing work (more or less) properly after not touching it all year. I'm not ready to get back in the office, but I am going to take a shot at doing some writing on the couch and see where I am. I'm going to try easing back into things with {REDACTED} for {REDACTED}, which everyone should be excited for as well.
I still don't know when chapters will resume, as I won't set a date until I can consistently output pages without compromising my health. Given how my recovery is going, I think that the start of next year is a realistic expectation. I'm hoping to be back to writing in December, in preparation, but that month is going to be a mess of family and probably travel, which I imagine is true for many of you. Most of my established plans for the holidays were set on fire last week, so everything is currently up in the air as I figure things out.
Anyway, the short version of all this is that my recovery is going well and I'm really looking forward to getting back to the writing. I've learned my lesson about pushing it when I shouldn't on that front, but it feels like I'm getting close to saddling up once more. Wish me luck.

I'm glad you're recovering well. I've read your book multiple times. Take care of yourself so we can all enjoy your writing for at least a few more decades.

I’ve been waiting for GRRM to publish Winds of Winter for over a decade. Your stories are more fun and even with your health issues you are doing way better than Martin. Just get better, your health is more important than any of our entertainment… entertainments? Whatever, you know what I mean. God bless.

I'm so glad your on the mend. Looking forward to what you write but totally don't mess with your recovery. We all love your stories but want you to do more for a long time to come. I don't mind waiting till you can do it safely.

I have once waited 4 years for the next book to come out in a series. A few months is nothing. Most authors put out one book a year.

Excellent! one note- and I promise im not saying this just because it suits my own interest.... but it might be worth considering trying an intermediate step. the black and white of not posting chapters/resuming posting is a lot of pressure. We all are cheering you on and saying take the time you need. that said- having a smaller goal might be the same kind of good stress. something like 2 chapters a month- just to get yourself in the mode and pushing. if you need to undo the goal- we will all still be encouraging you to take care of yourself. just my TOTALLY NOT SELFISH I PROMISE SHUT UP two cents
