Just to comment on the one girl's wedding. I have known my sister in law since I was 9, they got married when I was 16. Now at almost 27, my SIL has been in my life for almost 20 years now. I would've been so upset if she had done something like this to me. Even if I weren't my brother's biological sister, he would still see me that way in this situation.

The beginning of this made me so mad lol not all siblings like each other but if your parents decide to adopt— even if they didn’t legally do so — then congrats you gained a sibling. How gross to take out your insecurities on a 14 year old. OP should either suck it up or go to therapy. I’m glad she had a change of heart but I feel like I disagree with the idea that she wasn’t an asshole. She made a very clear statement to a child that she wasn’t welcome, a child everyone else in the family has embraced — it doesn’t matter if you didn’t put in the effort if the rest of the family says she’s family then she’s family (at least in the case where the 14 year old did literally nothing to her.
