One More Thing: Drudgework Observer
🕑 Added 2023-09-28 15:07:05 +0000 UTCGreetings Adventurers,
We just couldn't resist. When the idea of creating a bird construct came up, I really just couldn't help it. We had to make it a thing. This latest Drudgework creation will rule the skyways over your game and insure that your players can never hide from their watchful eyes. As usual, we put together a matching magic item to go with it which you saw earlier today. We're always on the lookout for new things to make for these One More Thing releases, so don't be afraid to let us know what you'd like to see.
As with all of these One More Thing releases, it's exclusive to patrons. If you're not a patron and want this release, please consider supporting us here. For patrons, you'll have to grab the files from your master post (linked below) to see the stats. We hope you enjoy it.
Design notes from Matthew:
With the arrival of airships in the setting that we're creating these for, there came a need for advanced scouting mechanisms. Sure there were the usual blends of optical enhancements and all, but we thought that the true way the Dwarves would harness this technology is to put it into a giant bird construct. At least that's what made the most sense to me, but I'm a weird sort.
For the 5E version, this was relatively straightforward, but that doesn't mean we don't weave in a bit of complexity. I wanted to make sure that it had the ability to sweep someone off the deck of an airship. I love the panic that could come from a maneuver like that and I hope that it would make its way into many a game. The screech as a form of defense paired with the grab or beating wings was just too good to pass up. Ultimately these are scouts, but I still wanted them to be capable in a fight.
In Pathfinder, there's more opportunity to play around with actions. The first thing I created was a potent combination of stunning a creature, then shoving them away with beating wings. It was potent enough that it took me a few reworks to get that combination working in a way that doesn't just shut down a game with everyone falling from an airship.
I mentioned it earlier, but we are truly open to ideas on these One More Thing releases. If you have concepts that you would like to see implemented or ideas for other kinds of things besides creatures, like perhaps places, we're all ears. Let us know what kind of content you'd like to see!

I was thinking about the vampiric rosary you made a while ago and thought to myself that it would be nice to see more on that concept, maybe you could make the next "one more thing" on that vein! I think it would be cool!
