Keen 1 was such a big thing for me as a kid that I nowadays dread to replay it. I played through 2 and 3 as well. Ep. 4 didn't really hit me as hard later on, but I did finish 4, 5 and 6 as well. I find the Keen 1 controls really intriguing. The wind-up jump makes Keen clumsy in a way that says something about the character. Having to press two buttons to shoot feels like working around a safety feature of the gun. The meandering level design is maybe the biggest issue with the games but when I played them, I felt like the level design told stories.
